There is too much information in the world; too much to keep track of.

The proof?

I went to Forbidden Planet and now have in my hot little hand Warren Ellis’ debut novel Crooked Little Vein. It’s been out since July and I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW HE WAS WRITING IT!!!

I obviously haven’t been looking at www.warrenellis.com enough.

First sentence: I opened my eyes to see the rat taking a piss in my coffee mug

There is not enough squee in the world to express how excited I am about reading this.

I have been listening to Neutral Milk Hotel’s album ‘In The Aeroplane Over The Sea’ pretty much on continuous repeat for the past week and I’m still not tired of it.

They have done more and I must acquire them *nods solemnly*

I love new book excitement - particularly if you know it's going to be a good one!

Of course, the flip side of this is when you've been waiting sooooooooooooooooo long for an author to get their next book finished that you've almost given up caring. Gah!

I luvluvluvluv Ellis' comic-book writing and the book has great reviews so I'm insanely happy to have it. I actually made a squeeing noise out loud when I saw it in the shop!

and yeah - long waits not good. Even worse if it comes out and its not up to their usual standard! I felt like that when I read 'Hannibal' by Thomas Harris - its not that bad but I just thought 'After Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs you give us this?'

I work slap bang in the middle of town so I have far, far too many book and record shops around me for the comfort of my wallet!

Warren Ellis has written comic books up to now and those are absolutely fantastic. Transmetropolitan is his and is really, really worth looking at if you get the chance. My smiley icon is from there.

Haven't started it yet 'cos I have a huge 'to read' stack - and Warren's is going to the front of the queue there!
